Near Barcelona, an apartment of 90 square meters with view on the sea in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres.
In the old district offishermenFrom his Penya, in Ibiza, you can visit the Casa Broner, the painter of the painter and architect Erwin Broner, which he designed in the late 1950s. Of German origin, Broner arrived on the island near Thirty years ago, fleeing Nazism - he was Jewish - and with the intention of studying traditional constructions of the region. After a stay in California, he decided to abandon nomadic life to settle at the foot of the Bastion of Santa Lucía. He chooses a 70 square meter building facing the sea, a white structure with clean lines, with a largechimney, balconies and terraces, recessed furniture and subtle colored touches.
Like Casa Broner, the first residential project of the Architecture Agency Pensi Pascual in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, in the province of Barcelona, benefits from a panoramic view and a Mediterranean soul, although their stories differ. It is an apartment of 90 square meters with sea view, where the shapes and proportions are resolutely oriented towards the horizon."The biggest challenge has been to create an open and austere space for the owner's sea and life - an assistantphotographerPassionate about interior decoration, design and aesthetics - become the real protagonists. We wanted furniture, books, photographs, as well as the memories of his daughter and him, permeate the interior spaces ”, explaining Pol and Easter Arnau and Arnau.
A USM Haller shelving fully equips the office space, which is accessed from the kitchen.

The owner -"One of the best customers we can have", according to Pensi and Pascual - told thearchitectsThe realization of his list of wishes: two bedrooms, an office (which can be converted to a bedroom) and an open living space on the outside, offering as much calm as possible. The project started with an apartment never having been renovated, but in good condition."The structure in concrete pillars of the building offered us great freedom, since there were no load -bearing walls, except the facade", they explain. The entire project revolves around a central cabin, where the main bathroom is located, a bright green. Around, elements of thecuisine, an entrance hall and shelves delimit the different parts and passages.“The whole inside perimeter is equipped with a built -in sofa, access to the laundry room, kitchen elements, storage cupboards and a bathroom for the guests. »»
In the northern part, opposite the living room, the two bedrooms seek to capture a share of the magnificent views: for the master bedroom, through a small interior window, and for the second, thanks to a 45 degree mirror attached to the 'cupboard."Upon entering theappartement, we understand that everything is designed as a scene, where reflections and crossed visuals establish links between conventional domestic programs ”, continue the architects.“The living room, the kitchen and the dining room mixed harmoniously; Nothing has a precise function, but these spaces merge to prolong their usefulness beyond what is initially planned. »»
In the dining room, in front of the kitchen, the hanging lampAkari26a from Isamu Noguchi (for Vitra) rests on a table and wooden chairs. On the right, in one of the rooms, the Akari 1A floor lamp, also of Noguchi for Vitra.

All the furniture of the place follows this principle of extension of the useful lifespan, in apassiveand active, according to user needs ”, explain Pensi and Pascual.

In the living room, connected to the outside by the balcony, an elegant sofa dialogue with a matching bench, crowned by the Clotus fireplace, designed by the architects óscar Tusquets and Lluís Clotet in 1964 (currently produced by DAE):“We also looked for a timeless and Mediterranean design, perfectly suited to the style of the apartment. »»To break with the studied whiteness of the envelope, in addition to the oak cabinets of the kitchen and the personal effects of the tenants, the keys ofbleu, green and red reveal themselves by opening the doors."Working with color always has a risk", explain the designers.“In architecture, we must understand the spatial relationships of the juxtaposition and the temporal conditions of variations in light and temperature. In this case, the colors appear when one enters certain specific spaces: the blue bathroom, the central green bathroom or a small burgundy piece of furniture when you close the office door. »»

"We think thearchitecturemust be born from the place and people who live there, rather than being imposed. Confidence and freedom to offer are essential for us; A good project can transform people's daily life ”, explain the architects when they are asked about their method. For this apartment, each choice of materials, visuals and shapes has been designed to magnify the beauty of the natural environment."Space is designed as a white set, in which elements of color mingle, like the constellations in the works of Joan Miró", they add. A real soulMediterranean.
The main bathroom, in a brilliant green, is the starting point for the development of the house.
